 Christmas Lights - Fund Raiser

[updated 25th July]

The Fund Raising night for the Rothbury Christmas Lights on Saturday 24th July 2010 was an outstanding success, perhaps not for the amount raised, but rather for putting the need for funds into the limelight.
The act we chose for a Musical Tribute to Frankie Valli & Barry Gibb was by Mark Barrie, expertly assisted by Penny on the controls.
Mark has previously won through on 'Stars in their Eyes' for his potrayal of Barry Gibb, and the reason was plain to see.
From the moment Mark did his sound checks, right through to the encore at the end of the night, everyone was full of praise for the high standards and choice of dance music - the floor had dancers on it from the start of the night right through to the encore - it was simply magic!
The amount raised in total was almost £300 and thanks have to be made to Rothbury Golf Club for donating the room, to all the staff at the Club for the excellent way they looked after us, to the many raffle prize givers, to Mark & Penny, but most of all to everyone who came to support us and ended up being involved in what was an exceptional night of entertainment.
We now look forward to our next event in September (25th - see posters) to Tina Turner by Kinisha.

Bus Services
[uploaded 9th May]

Rothbury is now served by an hourly bus service provided by ARRIVA from Morpeth and in turn these are easily accessed from further afield eg Newcastle. This gives visitors to the North-East an excellent opportunity for a day trip into the countryside for walks, or a pleasant picnic down by the riverside and play area in Rothbury. Everyone is aware of the stories that kids can't play conkers due to Health & Safety (H&S) legislation, or that H&S legislation stops classroom experiments, or pancake races are banned by the H&S, or heard about the one where sweets are banned from being throw into the audience at a panto? Well if you had click HERE to find out more from the Myth of the Month on the H&S web site.
